Glue sticks should be stored in a dry, ventilated area away from direct sunlight, heating equipment, hot walls, and other sources of radiant heat. Excessive temperature can soften or bend the sticks, especially when cartons are compressed under heavy stacking loads.
The warehouse does not need to be refrigerated. More important is maintaining a moderate and relatively stable environment within the range recommended for the selected grade. Large temperature fluctuations can cause packaging deterioration or condensation when cold cartons are moved suddenly into a warm, humid workshop.
Dust, fibers, oil, and other contaminants can attach to exposed adhesive surfaces. Once the stick enters the glue gun, those materials may collect in the melt chamber, interfere with flow, block the nozzle, or reduce bond cleanliness.
Operators should open only the quantity required for the current shift. Unused material should remain in its original inner packaging or be placed inside a clean, sealed container. Partially opened cartons should never be left beside cutting, sanding, textile-processing, or other dust-generating equipment.
Moisture does not dissolve most hot melt products, but wet packaging and surface condensation can still create application problems. Cartons should be stored on pallets or shelves rather than directly on a warehouse floor or against an exterior wall.
Dimensional consistency is important because glue guns depend on stable stick diameter and straight feeding. Bent sticks may jam, slip, or make it difficult for the operator to apply a uniform bead.

Different glue sticks may appear similar while having very different temperature ranges, open times, colors, and bonding properties. Mixed cartons can therefore cause production failures that are difficult to diagnose.
A first-in, first-out system reduces unnecessarily long storage and makes stock rotation easier. Warehouse staff should not combine several unidentified partial cartons merely to save space. Clear labels should remain visible until the material is consumed.
Cartons moved from a cold warehouse into a warm and humid workshop may develop condensation. Allow sealed packages to reach room conditions before opening them. This prevents moisture from settling directly on the sticks.
Do not use uncontrolled heating to straighten or warm cold material. Ovens, heaters, and direct sunlight can soften the outer surface unevenly and change feeding behaviour. Natural conditioning in the sealed package is safer and more predictable.
A practical adhesive storage condition guide should include a pre-use inspection. Check whether the sticks are straight, clean, dry, correctly labelled, and compatible with the glue-gun diameter. Look for unusual discoloration, surface contamination, damaged packaging, or sticks fused together.
